{"id":6289,"date":"2025-01-24T12:04:50","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T12:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/finavestra.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/24\/apple-finally-admits-next-gen-carplay-isnt-coming-in-2024\/"},"modified":"2025-01-24T12:04:50","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T12:04:50","slug":"apple-finally-admits-next-gen-carplay-isnt-coming-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/finavestra.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/24\/apple-finally-admits-next-gen-carplay-isnt-coming-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple finally admits next-gen CarPlay isn\u2019t coming in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<em>Better late than never.<\/em> | Image: Apple<\/p>\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve almost hit the second month of 2025, Apple has finally updated its CarPlay webpage to say it won\u2019t be arriving in 2024. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2025\/01\/23\/apple-removes-2024-from-next-gen-carplay-page\/\">As noted by <em>MacRumors<\/em><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/12\/30\/24332162\/apple-next-gen-carplay-not-available-2024-porsche-aston-martin\">2024 timeframe<\/a> for the first vehicles to support CarPlay 2 has been removed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/ios\/carplay\/#:~:text=it%20controls%C2%A0CarPlay.-,Next%20generation%20of%C2%A0CarPlay,-This%20next%20generation\">the website without adding a new launch date.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apple first announced the \u201cnext generation of CarPlay\u201d back in 2022, but updates about its arrival have been sporadic. Porsche and Aston Martin haven\u2019t provided any launch dates despite saying their cars would be the first to get the new CarPlay. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/6\/7\/23157963\/apple-carplay-next-gen-screen-car-companies\">automakers like Ford and Mercedes<\/a> were slow to confirm support, while others like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/4\/4\/23669523\/gm-apple-carplay-android-auto-ev-restrict-access\">General Motors<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/7\/22\/24203609\/rivian-apple-carplay-support-rj-scaringe-decoder\">Rivian<\/a> have snubbed CarPlay entirely in favor of having more control over their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not posting a revised date, there are indications that Apple will launch it <em>eventually<\/em>. There are references to next-generation \u200cCarPlay\u200c in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/12\/18\/24324423\/apples-ios-18-3-public-beta-is-now-available\">iOS 18.3 beta released last month<\/a>, for example, and Apple has recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2024\/11\/25\/next-generation-carplay-images-in-eu\/\">filed new images of it<\/a> in an EU database. <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/01\/23\/apple-confirms-carplay-2s-delay-with-removal-of-2024-date-from-website\/\">Apple also told <em>9to5Mac<\/em><\/a> that it\u2019s working closely with several automakers that will implement the new CarPlay experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach car brand will share more details as they near the announcements of their models that will support the next generation of CarPlay,\u201d Apple told the outlet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Better late than never. | Image: Apple Now that we\u2019ve almost hit the second month of 2025, Apple has finally updated its CarPlay webpage to say it won\u2019t be arriving in 2024.
